The logo of the Association for Traditional Studies comes from the pictographic writings of China over 4,000 years ago. It is from the Bronze Urn style of writing, and the calligraphic rendition was a gift to ATS by calligrapher, scholar, Chinese medicine practitioner and human-extraordinare, the late professor Wang Jin-Huai.

It's meaning, which is "to hold, to protect" is at the very essence of what the Association is about.  The way in which the ancient Chinese depicted and thought about "holding and protecting" is important to note: it is of a person holding and playing with a child, which imparts a feeling of peace and safety, and inherently has the concept of survival to the next generation.

This spirit is at the heart of the work being done by the Association- we are striving to create a way for the traditional arts of China to be held, protected, and passed on to ensure their survival.
