Dr. Li Hongxiang Project

Since 2005, most of ATS’ focus has been on 88 year old professor Li Hongxiang. Dr. Li is the last traditional doctor left in Beijing still practicing in the traditional way. He earned the highest rank of #1 in the Chinese Medicine Exams in 1946 and is one of the most famous doctors outside the TCM university system. Acknowledged as octogenarian Dr. Li Hongxiang’s final disciple in 2005, ATS president Andrew Nugent-Head has been working hard to document as much of Dr. Li’s knowledge as possible in the clinic and in his home.

To date, this effort has garnered over 3,000 case formulas, 1,500 audio hours of clinic recordings, 100 video hours of lecture and a manuscript just completed by Dr. Li on Chinese medicine from a traditional practitioner’s perspective. Now in Year 7 of this 3 Phase/9 Year project, ATS has begun the mammoth task of translating the manuscript and publishing it as a bilingual book for release in 2012/2013.
