Strategy vs execution disconnect

Our leadership team is brilliant at setting ambitious goals but execution always falls apart somewhere in the middle. The vision exists but the bridge to results keeps breaking. What does it actually mean to accomplish goals in business when the gap between strategy and real-world execution is this wide?

Seen this a lot - strategy gets applause, execution gets excuses. In one company I worked with, leadership set bold goals, but no one owned the messy middle. Things only changed when they broke goals into “who does what by when” and reviewed progress weekly, not quarterly. To me, accomplishing goals is less about vision and more about consistency under friction. I once read a piece on Yorkton Securities  that hinted at this - real progress comes from disciplined follow-through, not just big ideas. Bridges don’t fail from design, they fail from lack of maintenance.
